...about life. The new hip has settled into place and I will be going back to work next week. I am glad that I got it done now. At 66 years old, if I waited another 3 or 4 months, I might have got a visit from the, you know, counselor. At one time (pre getting old) I thought that euthenasia might be a good deal. I was young and liberal then. It was pre Vietnam, and I had yet to figure out that I really liked being alive...

I may be working up to pissed off enough to to weigh in on universal health care.

...have just returned from a much needed vacation and an opportunity to visit with the Tadpoles and ther grand tadpoles. REFRESHED are we.

I went to a local pond yesterday and made a wonderful discovery. It is more fun to catch a bucket of LARGE Bluegills and Sunfish than it is to not catch Bass, Catfish and Crappies. #1 - inspite of the work invoved the little filets make several wonderful cajun dishes and #2 - that me catching a bunch of fish and having a wonderful time aggravated the snot out of the people the people that were not catching the Bass, Catfish and Crappies. and #3 - It really pissed them off that in the middle of all of this I also caught several keeper size Bass all 3 of which topped the scale at over 3 pounds.

The other fisher folk on the floating pier were getting ouright surly when I left. It was almost as much fun as fun as trying to aggravate people with the weblog.

And the news networks will immediately start showing pictures of Federales in Mexico City D.F. handing out surgical masks and then switch to pictures of ill, malnutritioned children who are reportedly dying of Swine Flu.

ONE NOVEMBER FOXTROT ONE DELTA THREE LIMA.

We are getting ready for an ice storm that you may have already had or are having even as I write this. Even if you can't figure out the above quote... have a Merry Christmas. Wow... that may be a hidden clue.

The good news is that trunk line gas valves go to open if the power goes out. That is good because, even with electricity out, the stove will still work. More good news is that I found a cheap electric generator that should put out enough electricity to run the gas furnace blower and control circuitry. Gee if the power goes out again this year for 8 days after the ice storm... I will be able to run the furnace at night. I will be able to cook. I will be able to see/read with candles and battery lanterns. Both cars are gassed up.

Life is as good as it gets during winter in Oklahoma.

If the 'puter/electricity goes down... have a blessed Christmas. And, I should be writing something by next year, even if the power does go off.

Somehow, it seems to this Constitutional Populist that the fox has been put fully in charge of the henhouse. The founders of our nation (you know... smart... dead... old guys... referred to in some quaint and ancient texts that purport to be HISTORICAL as the "founding fathers") railed against the concept of a federal / national bank. The silly twits even put it into that quaint, quasi hysterical document referred to as the constitution. Well, actually, they did not make it constitutional. That was done in 1913 and signed into law by the late (also an old dead guy) Woodrow Wilson, who depending on the historian that you quote, may or may not have regretted signing that particular quasi legal bill into law as he approached the end of his life.

Now what is all this bovine extract about the sky falling.

The head director of the largest FEDERAL RESERVE BANK is being named as the SECRETARY of the TREASURY.

One of the quaint old (??!!:) notions that I am stuck with is that the purpose of the Constitution is to limit the size of the government. I do not remember that I was ever taught that purpose of the Constitution was to define how fast the government could grow.

Now I remember. The Government exists to serve the people. How quaint. The people, if I remember correctly, were not designed by their creator to serve the ruling class of professional bureaucrats. Something or another about inalienable rights springs (well-stumbles) to the forefront of my diminished (as opposed to DHIMMI) cranial cell’s capacity for abstract ideas.

I am standing here in the farmyard staring up at the side of the barn. The words say…

“All animals are equal, except some animals are more equal than others”.

Wowee… We may be on to something here! But I have the nagging sensation that there used to be more words than that written on the barn. Maybe I should go take another dose of the medicine that the doctor at the V.A. Clinic gave me. Things are always better after I do that. After all, “A gram is better than a damn.”

In its assumptions about the size of the state and the role of government, almost every advanced nation is more left than it was, and getting lefter.

We are stuck between "trickle down" benefits and "trickle up" poverty.

I'll go with McCain and trickle down benefits.

Obviously it's time for me, as the Candidate of Last Resort and as a noted financial and economic expert, to speak to you, the Nation, about this whole credit and bank thingy.

Everyone is pointing fingers, trying desperately to pass the buck. The Democrats say it's Bushs' fault. The Republicans are blaming it on the Democrats. McCain seems to suspect the North Vietnamese and Obama is looking suspiciously at bitter clingers like Palin.

And everyone hates Wall Street: even Wall Street.But ask yourself this question. What one group, what one special interest has managed so far to escape the scrutiny that could reveal all?

Of Course, I'm referring to "The Poor".

I know what you're thinking. "Don" you say, "You've got to get back on your meds. The Poor just don't have the political and economic clout necessary to cause the melt down of the greatest fun-house mirror economy of all times!"

That my fellow Americans is just what they want you to think.

Oh sure the poor look wretched. Yes they have the fashion sense of weevils and they smell bad. Good Lord! It makes me nauseous even having to use the toe of my boot to kick them to the gutter as I pass them on the street!

So how can I make the case that the poor are ultimately responsible for forcing the rest of us to have to endure hours of pudgy sweating bureaucrats steaming up our flat screens? Let's look at the facts.

When the Government of the United States decided that affordable housing was a universal right, like digital TV and medicinal heroin, it was never their intention to extend that concept to the poor. That would be crazy! I mean, they'd be living right next door!

Inter-economical dating would surely follow.

No. It's one thing to help a down-on-his-luck lemur get no-down financing on a split level ranch in the Simi Valley.

After all, steady employment at the pharmaceutical labs is a given for our simian companions.

But the Poor opportunistically jumped in, taking unfair advantage of a loop-hole by claiming a broad genetic hominid relationship.

So. What can be done about this? As your President, I will use my emergency powers to set the might of US Industry to solving this thorny problem. I will authorize the destruction of whole national forests to make the pulp necessary for the creation of millions of refrigerator boxes. I will increase the Strategic Muscatel Reserve by millions of barrels. Then, using tactics developed during the settling of our great nation, I will post advertisements on national television during shows like "My name is Earl" to inform the Poor that the Government has made a "Reservation" for them at a vacation retreat near Senator Reed's place in Nevada. Thus returning the natural balance. The resulting empty houses will be fumigated and re-sold to humans.

LOUIS - Attorneys for the voting registration organizations ACORN and Project Vote filed an anti-discrimination voting rights suit in the U.S. Federal District court this morning, alleging the United States government is involved in "a widespread, systematic effort to disenfranchise Imaginary-Americans and deprive them of access to polls."

"Participation in our electoral process is a fundamental right, and the foundation of our democracy," said ASDF ASDFG, a spokesperson for the National Association for the Advancement of Imaginary People, one of the groups named as plaintiffs in the class action. "We will not be silent when government denies people access to the polls on the basis of color, or sex, or existential status."

The new suit was prompted by on a series of law enforcement raids of ACORN offices in 10 states over the past week, as well as a reported Justice Department investigation. Federal and state officials say they were acting on tips of fraudulent voter registration forms, after election officials reported a flood of unusual applications submitted by ACORN canvassers. In Las Vegas the Clarke County election commission reported thousands of registrations signed by the Dallas Cowboys, while in St. Louis officials discovered thousands of others signed by Power Rangers, Menudo, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In Cleveland, Ohio Republican officials complained to the Federal Election Commission after early-voting sites barred observers when thousands of Invisible-Ohioans arrived at the polls aboard hundreds of invisible ACORN buses. In Ida Grove, Iowa, Ida County Registrar Debby Ballard expressed concern when a convoy of Chicago ACORN semis submitted 4,000,000 provisional ballots, 17 seconds before a 5 pm deadline.

"I'm proud that Ida County can boast of a 114,312% voter registration rate, but I'm not sure if I can get all of them processed by Monday," said Ballard. "I've got a pilates class in Sioux City."
After the raids, ACORN officials initially blamed the problems on rogue volunteers.

"We are in the midst of our most successful signup ever, registering over 7 trillion new voters in the last week alone," said ACORN spokesman Charles Jackson. "It's impossible to have 100% quality control, and a few misspellings might have fallen through the cracks."

On Tuesday, ACORN said it would dismiss any workers suspected of fraud, and would outsource 40% of voter registration jobs to Banglore Registration Industries.

"The quality control is better in India, and we can save over $35 per metric ton," noted Jackson.
After consultation with attorneys, however, ACORN -- which has received $800,000 from the Obama campaign for registration efforts -- filed a suit claiming the increased legal scrutiny was driven by a political agenda. Amicus briefs were added from several Imaginary Rights groups, adding civil rights violations to the list of complaints.

"Whether we are obituary notices, hallucinatory giant rabbits, or strings of random keyboard strokes, it's time for the chimera community to stand up and claim our rights as citizens," said ASDFG. "We will no longer be silent and invisible. Okay, maybe invisible."

In addition to $3.2 jubajillion in damages and free federal mortgages for homeless spectres, the suit also seeks enforcement of the Americans with Dimensional Disabilities Act. The Act requires voting places to make accommodations for existentially-challenged voters who have trouble completing ballots written in standard 3-dimensional reality. The accommodations include multiple site registration, time travel, and allowances for alcoholics to cast ballots for dependent D.T. phantasms.

"Many of our community inhabit the Tapioca subluster of the 11th Dimension, and it's hard for them to find a convenient spacehole to make it to the local elementary school," explained ASDFG.

A ruling in the suit is expected later this week from St. Louis federal appelate judge Fwinklezorg the Hydragoat.

I intend to vote for him for the following reason.

The President of the United States will be fully briefed on anything about which he has to make a major or minor decision concerning policy. I do not and cannot know what decisions will have to be made. I can only trust that the person making the decisions will check his moral compass for direction before making decisions.

I do not like or always agree with John McCain. I am, however, willing to trust his moral compass much more than I am willing to trust Barack Obama's moral compass.

I am inclined to believe that a persons life is defined by what he or she has done and where he or she has been and what he or she did while they were there. Your life is defined by the decisions you made and the people with whom you surrounded yourself. Quite frankly, I do not trust Obama's moral compass any farther than I can throw a 1963 Ford 3/4 to pick up truck.

2) CULTURE - Yes... Work hard, embrace entrepreneurship and provide for your family. And, by the way, this is part and parcel of the Judeo-Christian ethic upon which the foundational political documents of our country are based.

3) MORALS - Hey, BUTT HEAD... Pay attention here. The deal is that we are supposed to take care of our brother. The Good Samaritan (remember him???) did not race off to the Saducees and Pharisees and tell them to come up with a fricking program. Helping your brother is a hands on operation. You do it. You don't have the fricking government confiscate other people's resources and redistribute them.

If you are a French-American or a Gabonese American or an Iranian-American or a Spanish-American go the hell back to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Mexico or wherever the hell you you think that your supposed to be. This tirade is brought to you compliments of an eMail from my cousin __(name)___. If you are on her list, you have probably already received her eMail. 1) Am for the public execution of the greedy Wall Streeters including the folk at Freddy and Fanny MAE or whatever the crap they were called. Preferably, flail the SOBs to death with golden parachutes!

2) As for the thousands of employees... tough shit. If my employer is involved in something morally reprehensible - Then - ergo - I am involved in something morally reprhensible. If I am looking at my moral compass (I do have one!) I will quit the job and do something legitimate. Compared to the wall street/mortage broker crowd, this could be as simple as selling snake oil for the pharmaceutical industry. Or, perhaps becoming an osteopath on the payroll of an abortion clinic in East Harlem. I have discovered myself working for morally reprehensible folk. And, I have changed jobs and careers.

3) And I have the same unbridled sympathy for the damned fools that were stupid enough to take loans so big that they could never be paid off short of winning a multmillion dollar lottery. Well, actually more sympathy for them. There need be no public execution. They will be out of the gene pool when they freeze to death in the cold.

I have already written my entire Washington Delegation several times. I also have been calling each Congressman on the phone, at least bimonthly, for the past 2 years. The aids answering the phone now start with, "Oh, Hi ___(Frog)___". They do that because I asked them all to please stop calling me Mr or Rev ___(Frog)___. It is my sincere wish that we had 99 more Dr. Tom Coburns on the floor of US Senate. They would all be too busy delivering babies for free in the charity wards of DC hospitals to spend time screwing up the national economy. And by-the-by that makes more sense than endless abortions.

And I say of that, speaking as a previous fetus, who was given birth by a clinically depressed Mother. If Mother had had the right to choose, the world might be short at least one of us creatures in the bunkers, namely me.

Just maybe there are more of us hanging out in bunkers with our "guns and bibles" than you left wing nut jobs had counted on.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 years old and up. So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon - that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a "We Deserve It Dividend."

Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let's assume a tax rate of 30%. Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam. But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket. A husband and wife have $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family's account?

Pay off your mortgage? - Housing crisis solved.

Repay college loans? - What a great boost to new grads.

Put away money for college? - It'll be there.

Save in a bank? - Create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

Buy a new car? Create jobs?

Invest in the market? - Capital drives growth.

Pay for your parent's medical insurance? - Health care improves.

Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean? Or else!

Here's my rationale. We deserve it – AIG doesn't. Sure it's a crazy idea that can "never work." But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party! How do you spell Economic Boom? I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion.

We Deserve It Dividend more than the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC. And remember, the plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Now let's bring this up to date. Can you say "SUPERSIZE IT"? Now do the same thing with $700 BILLION that congress is throwing around today. No oversight necessary other than IRS. And while we're at it, lets disbar past and present Congressmen, Senators and Presidents from riding on that train.

And, as long as we're doing the year that was...

On 12/8/07 we decorated the yard for Christmas using lots of icicles. It was veritable "Winter Wonderland". The power was out for 10 days and we had quite a time taking care of the neighbors!

Actually, I had a revelation during that time. It occurred to me that there was a reason that God had invented stainless steel sinks.

It would be posible to rip out the sink and chain it to the steel framework of a kitchen chair and use the whole thing as fireplace for burning the chopped up sofa to keep the house warm! Frogette restrained me from testing the hypothesis and on 12/19/08 the power came back on.

And now, beloved friends, you are up to date on what has recently transpired in the Bog. I'll try to get up to speed on political commentary soon.

Halloween at the office is always quite a thrill. The usual ladies put on their usual costumes and most sane workers try to ignore them. The customary costume is a really baggy sweat suite, pink furry slippers and hair up in curlers. Only God knows what it is supposed to represent, but it may be helpful in scaring evil spirits out of the office.

The Frog got swept up in the festivities this year (unusual of itself) and decked out in his own costume. Later he added the commentary and used the picture as a "cheap shot" Christmas card.

Worse, there are places that it exists today. Really good is that none of those places are in the United States of America. I probably had one relative that was a slaveholder. I also had a relative that was a slave. He was not an indentured servant. He was a slave. The British in the Colonies were excellent record keepers. When he arrived from Scotland he was listed as PROPERTY OF THE MILL IN WHICH HE WORKED (slaved?). History is part of our past. I get really upset when people who have appointed themselves as spokesman for the downtrodden try to appoint themselves as my conscience.

While President Bush and pro-amnesty members of Congress are pushing an unpopular immigration “reform” bill that would bestow American citizenship on millions of people who have no regard for America’s laws, liberal Democrats across the Washington region are increasingly complaining about overcrowded houses, noise, loitering and general public nuisance — all caused by illegal aliens.

These local liberals are in no mood for “celebrate diversity” chants.

Listening recently to frustrated folks call a local radio talk show to vent about illegal aliens loitering in front of stores and cramming into $400,000 houses in their neighborhoods, I wondered if those same liberals accused pro-enforcement Americans of being “nativists,” “xenophobes” and “racists” for complaining about the same problems.

Now that illegal aliens have migrated to their neighborhoods, such liberals have become pro-enforcement all of a sudden.

A Republican called in to say her Democratic friends labeled her a racist when she’d complain about illegal immigration. She’d tell them something like, “You just wait until it happens to you. Then you’ll be singing a different tune.”

It’s happening to them, and they are singing a different tune. It turns out that liberals in half-a-million-dollar houses don’t like living next door to a single-family house filled to the brim with illegal aliens who park on the front lawn, throw trash everywhere and urinate outside.

Congressional Democrats don’t talk about such discontent among their constituents, but locals are keenly aware that the federal government has abdicated its role as immigration law enforcer. State and local governments are compelled to assume control.

Democrats on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in Virginia may be ousted in November if they don’t deal with the growing problems. Rick Gordon, a homeland security consultant, told The Washington Post that “Enough is enough. These frauds need to go!”

He complained about an illegal alien boarding house in his neighborhood, and Supervisor Penelope Gross told him “The county’s hands were tied.” (Turque, Bill and Brulliard, Karin, “Overflowing Fairfax Homes Split Neighbors,” Washington Post, May 13, p. A1)
Gordon emphasized that his was no “right-wing Nazi community. … Everybody is a liberal Democrat.”

Local governments are forced to try to fix what the federal government will not. Last year, in the town of Herndon , the people removed the mayor and two town council members who voted for a day labor center. The town applied for and obtained permission to begin 287(g) immigration enforcement training, which will give local law enforcement the authority to carry out federal immigration laws.

Citizens in Manassas organized a group called “Help Save Manassas” to raise awareness of the negative effects of overcrowding and loitering.

Leesburg is considering adopting stricter regulations on overcrowding.

The Virginia House of Delegates passed a measure that would block public funds to charities and other organizations that provide services to illegal aliens.

Some black residents in the Brentwood section of Northeast Washington have gone on record to complain about illegal aliens — who litter and urinate — gathering near the Home Depot in their neighborhood.

Perhaps it will take a lot more overcrowding, loitering and public urination for congressional
Democrats (and the Republican president) to understand the urgent need to enforce immigration laws currently on the books instead of writing new ones to reward lawbreakers with American citizenship.

Local liberals are learning a valuable and important lesson: Not all “diversity” is worth celebrating.

Last week I purchased a burger at Burger King for $1.58.

The counter girl took my $2 and I was digging for my change when I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies, while looking at the screen on her register. I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help . While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried.

Why do I tell you this? Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1950's.

Suffice it to say that in my golden :) years I seem to br reverting to my oilfield ways. Frogette would not let me bring my 36" pipe wrench into the computer room. I am, however, fondling the 14" pipe wrench that I used to keep under the kitchen sink and snuck in here last night. Visions of how I could use it to fine tune this wretched machine are dancing like sugar plums in my head. I think that may have more to do with old age than with medicinal herbs.

The situation in Korea makes me wonder...
1) The President has good and reasonable foreign policy goals for the last 6 years.
2) The Department of State seems to not be connected to any thing but its own foreign policy goals.

The PLAN is simple. I grew up a child of the 1950’s and 1960’s. Graduated from High School in 1961 and from College in 1966. It is a simple plan. When the bomb goes off, be higher than the bomb.

Later in the newscast it was announced by the Department of Labor that the unemployment rate was some where between 4% and 6%.

Duhhhhh…

I guess that it’s only a problem if you are unemployed.

And later in the week, the Florida citrus folk are whining about not having enough people to harvest the fruit.

They all stopped in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama because $9 to $11 per hour picking up trash, roofing houses and hanging dry wall is a better deal than picking oranges.
